Since our founding in March 2015, Lion Underwriting has grown into a recognised and respected name in the Australian insurance landscape. Over the past decade, we’ve built a reputation for flexible, innovative insurance solutions across General Liability, Property, and Professional Lines.

We are proud to be a privately owned and truly independent underwriting agency- a rare position in an industry defined by mergers and acquisitions. This independence allows us to move swiftly, make decisions in the best interests of our brokers and clients, and bring new products to market with agility and creativity.

Whilst our reputation as a specialist in hard-to-place risks is well known, Lion Underwriting now offers capacity, appetite, and underwriting capability across a wide spectrum of risks and occupations spanning both open-market placements and binder business. We encourage brokers to rethink the types of risks they consider placing with Lion, and to contact us about opportunities they may not have previously associated with our brand.

Having recently celebrated a decade in business, we honour our past, including the legacy of our late founder and Managing Director, Kurt Nilsen. Today, Lion Underwriting is guided by Director Nathan Hepple and a highly experienced leadership team. Together, they bring deep expertise across underwriting, claims and operations, supporting the continued growth, innovation and success of the business.
